it's pretty sad when your favorite christmas present is someone's scribbled autograph. my brother got gillian welch to sign a cd cover to asher, our soon to be child. he's probably going to hate that kind of music. poor kid.

velda plendor in lexington

i was walking down main street today and saw this lady from behind who, i swear, was the character velda plendor from one of my all time faves, troop beverly hills. she had on the whole get up. fatigues (pants tucked into khaki lace-up combat boots), bun, and a black beret. so many memories.

the national chamionship

well, well, well, alot of people are up in arms b/c the florida gators were chosen to play the ohio state buckeyes in the bcs national championship this year. yes, the choosing of who gets to play in what ncaa bowl game is extremely screwy, but now i'm going to have to root for the gators. gag. it might be worse that auburn had an undefeated season a couple of years ago and weren't asked to play usc for the national title. but forgive and forget, right? oh yeah, my auburn boys didn't do so hot this year, but wait, who was florida's one loss to? hmmm. michigan should probably have gotten this bid to play ohio state. oh, it is so nice to have an sec team in there to represent. let's just hope they come ready to play.
